Facts About Pattern Hair Loss

Genetic and Hormonal Causes – Pattern Hair Loss, medically known as Androgenetic Alopecia, is largely influenced by genetics and the hormone Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Over time, DHT causes hair follicles to shrink, producing finer, shorter strands until growth eventually stops.

Treatable, But Not Always Reversible – Treatments such as HLC Low-Level Laser Therapy, PRP, and topical or oral solutions can slow down progression and, restore growth. However, once follicles have completely died, full regrowth may not be possible. Early intervention is crucial for preserving existing hair.

Progressive and Predictable – In men, it often begins with a receding hairline and thinning at the crown. In women, it usually presents as diffuse thinning on the top of the scalp without a receding hairline. The progression follows well-established patterns, measured by the Norwood-Hamilton scale (for men) and the Ludwig scale (for women).
